ARTCADE JL “BIG THINGS, BIG DREAMS”.

“Enjoy your youth” is one of Artcade JL’s toy descriptions in his recent toy event entitled Kalsada. This also means that we have a lot of potential in our youth, we just have to be courageous to change old beliefs and habits.

JL Marfori goes by the name Artcade JL. His works are mostly composed of motion graphics, illustrations, and toy works. While working as a content creator in the advertising world, he also works on his projects as his outlet of passion and frustration. This fulfills his art career goals and more so serves as a mental cure against the pandemic we are in.

One mission he takes on as an artist is to maximize the power of collaboration, working with as many artists as he possibly can.

His first toy release was the DJ Mobile v1. A three-colorway series with a world tour theme. The DJ Mobile serves as his toy artist avatar and front act in the Mobileverse. Included in the three colorway releases is a piece of music for each as well. All for Fame; DJ Mobile Miami, Welcome: DJ Mobile Thank You in collaboration with Thank You PH, and Aloha; DJ Mobile Hawaii with Rae Patalinghug, that also made an appearance on the local radio.

His 2nd character, MadBox, which is the current that will be held on June 24th-30th at Unbox Greenhills will surely be making a few more releases in the future. At the same time, Emcee Sewage has been making appearances for exclusive shows as he also paves the way to how he would officially release him to the public.

He also mentioned that he has big hopes for his 2 future releases named Jabbawockidz and Sole Surfer.

As a toy artist, I consider this art show I hosted with other people as my biggest achievement so far. But I wouldn’t settle just yet. I just started to make noise and soon will be making louder ones.”  From the concept of the toy to inviting other artists personally both local and international and just by receiving a “YES I WOULD LOVE TO BE PART OF YOUR SHOW” makes every step of this show sweeter. Contacting different people to make this happen and elevate it from the initial plan of another online show to bringing it back to physical display is just damn good! This is the feeling that keeps him moving forward and knowing that this is something that’s only going to get bigger in the future.

I will shake the scene and show the whole world my artwork because I know I have what it takes to be a world-class artist!”

He also said that he would love to collaborate with famous artists like Quiccs and Danil Yad the people that certainly is every toy artist’s dream collaboration. But for now, he said that he wants to reach the circle of toy artists like 7Sketches and his Sad Panda, Czee13 and his Cabot family, Jei Tseng with his JT Studio, and toy hubs like Martian Toys and Devil Toys.

“The streetwear community has always been part of me as I consider myself a tasteful guy when it comes to dressing up. I’ve always wanted to be involved in this industry but I just could not find the perfect way for me to do so. But when I started designing art toys, I immediately distinguished them as works related to the hip hop and hypebeast culture. It gave me an idea that this may work to what I wanted to do with the streetwear community.

This collaboration has always been bookmarked for me and this event gave me the perfect opportunity to make it happen. I’ve always wanted to work with the people from Instinct Studios since I’ve known them since an event I visited with a mutual friend of their team. I was able to make conversation with some of their team members and after a while made me think of how about working together? It’s been years since that idea is embedded in my mind and finally able to make it work this time!”

Toys have been in the Hypebeast scene for a while now but are mostly of the international brands marketing. This may be one of the few local streetwear + art toys collaboration that is available for the public. He hopes that this will make a huge impact on the local community that shares the same vision of collaboration and presentation to the world.

He also made a promise to himself that he would be a world-class artist.
